Ch 4: Formlessness

This is not a war. The Zed are hunters, and we are prey. Thus, the Zed will behave as hunters should: they will lay traps, they will watch our movements, they will learn our routines. Even the most skilled survivor will not escape every trap alive, and it only takes a Zed getting lucky once to end your humanity forever. For this reason, we must be formless.
Formlessness must apply to all aspect of our lives. We must vary our routes, change which entrances we use, and always mask our movements and intentions. Should a Zed catch us in the act of using what we consider a secure and secret trail, that Zed will be of no concern to us if we already intend to alter our routes. If the Zeds believe you to be going one way, go another. A hunter without any understanding of its prey is far less dangerous than a hunter that does.
On missions, the Zeds may or may not know our objectives. If there are capture points that the Zeds are aware of, you must move along routes that will be unexpected. Confrontation should be kept to a minimum, should be planned to happen at the ideal time, and should be carried out always with a plan. When you are ready for a fight, make your force appear weak. When you are not ready for a fight, make your force appear strong. This will cause the Zeds to approach when you desire and stay away when you don't.
Planning as humans should be done quietly, but false information should be fed to the Zeds as well. Never commit fully to making a stand or retreating, because the wisdom of either option could change in an instant. Maintain your formlessness and find the path of least resistance. Let the Zeds push when you're ready to take them, shift away when you're not. If the Zeds cannot trap you, and cannot force you into combat except at your choosing, you are utilizing the art of formlessness.
